The Wellness & Healing Art Coordinator utilizes the creative process involved in art to assist in the wellness and life enhancement of inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care patients. This position will conduct and/or coordinate volunteers to provide programs in the visual, literary, and performing arts. The overall goal of this position is to help patients and/or their families cope with illness, reduce stress and/or anxiety, and improve the patient's overall functioning or sense of personal well-being.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned.
Work closely with the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Team to determine the patients and/or families that will benefit from the program.
During individual and/or group sessions, elicit the patient's inherent capacity for art making to enhance their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Integrative therapies may include, but not limited to: pet, music, visual, and aromatherapies.
Collaborates with partner organizations and key stakeholders in the community to offer and host educational workshops, promotional presentations, and services.
Coordinators scheduling and administrative support for involved volunteers.
Assists in program expansion, quality improvement, and outcome measures.
Devise art therapy skills that patient and families may utilize to help them in living life to the fullest upon discharge.
Recruits, trains, and orients new volunteers for the program.
Completes minor documentation in ERM pertaining to patient's art therapy outcome.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Art Therapy
Minimum of 1 year in a healthcare environment preferred.
Previous experience working with adults and seniors with serious illness required.
