The Wellness Manager is responsible for all day to day operations of two wellness facilities, including planning, equipping, staffing, program development, implementation of programs and technology to run a successful facility. Additionally, the Wellness Manager will work with the Director of Employee Health and Wellness in establishing and ensuring compliance with budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned.
Collaborates with the Director on services, business plans and program development of two Wellness Centers.
Assists the Director in the financial viability of the business, development of the annual budget and strategic plan, monitoring actual expenses compared to budget and cost control through the economic utilization of supplies and equipment.
Manages development and implementation of new and existing wellness programs and services that are both profitable and of interest to current or potential members. Conducts studies of feasible facility and service expansions.
Coordinates regular customer satisfaction surveys to ensure service excellence and identify program and revenue growth opportunities.
Oversees all Wellness marketing and sales efforts. Seeks innovative solutions to increase membership, retention and engagement in both the employee and community populations.
Assists in coordinating the capital equipment account, prepares appropriate paperwork to enable the Director to clearly present the purchase request at RAC.
Manages the recruitment, hiring, on boarding, training, mandatory compliance and performance evaluation of all Direct Reports.
Ensures appropriate certification/licensure of all staff and contractors is current, to include Group Fitness Instructor Certifications, Personal Trainer Certifications and liability insurance, BLS, and massage licensure.
Responsible for fitness equipment maintenance and repair. Directs contract services as needed for maintenance of first rate facilities. Coordinates multiple independent contractors and companies who facilitate the upkeep and function of fitness equipment within the department.
Develops departmental policies and procedures and oversees risk management practices for safe fitness center environment and staffing.
Supervises daily center operations to ensure professional programs and services that meet or exceed industry standards in a safe and secure environment.
Maintains positive interdepartmental relationships thereby encouraging employee participation in personal and positive health promotion.
Maintains current knowledge of exercise equipment available, quality, durability, and its appropriateness for current client mix and programs. Secures quotes and oversees fitness equipment purchases and develops long-term equipment replacement plan.
Using current industry standards (ie: ACSM, MFA), oversees the technical aspects of the development of specific physical and educational programs conducive to the wellbeing of the clientele.
Plan and conduct ongoing training and development programs for wellness center staff.
Responsible for Performance Evaluations of Direct Reports and assists in Performance Evaluations of all staff.
Manages all services and programs provided by Wellness Specialists and Program Coordinators, including member orientations, health risk screenings, fitness testing, member program design and special programming.
Manages Massage Therapists and all related programming and services.
Collaborate with safety officers to ensure compliance with internal and external safety requirements.
Assist management team in resolving customer complaints/concerns.
Collaborate with contractors to develop and execute a system of routine maintenance for all fitness equipment to ensure proper working condition and adherence to warranty requirements.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or related health and fitness discipline required. Master's degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Business, or Wellness Management strongly preferred
National Certification from ACSM, NSCA, or related required.
Supervisory experience preferred. A minimum of five years industry experience, in lieu of supervisory experience, will be considered.
Broad knowledge of current guidelines in health/fitness/wellness
Working knowledge of design, biomechanics, and applications of various equipment
Working knowledge of design, construction, and operations of large wellness facilities
Understands the working relationships within a hospital based wellness center and preventative exercise and rehabilitative exercise. Supervision of large staff numbers in a multi-discipline environment
Criminal background screening including fingerprints via a Livescan Service Provider approved by the Florida Department of Law enforcement.
